Job Description:
This position is advertised from the minimum to the maximum
hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and
experience at the time of offer. NATURE OF WORK Under general
supervision, performs professional nursing service of considerable
difficulty in public health programs in the field, clinic and
office; this position has department specific responsibility.
(Illustrative Only) Works under the supervision of a Registered
Nurse or Nurse Practitioner; administers medications, including
immunizations, following clinic protocol; performs CLIA waived
testing per protocol; assists with Communicable Disease
investigation and follow-up; maintains appropriate confidentiality
of all information encountered in performance of duties; refers
patients/clients to other community agencies for assistance as
needed; provides clinical intervention, home visits, case
management, care coordination, referral and follow-up to
individuals and families; provides education to the community and
individuals in specialized programs such as: Tuberculosis (TB),
Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD), family planning; maintains
patient data, files and correspondence according to protocol;
ability to provide phlebotomy services; regular and reliable
attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned. Graduate
of an accredited school of Nursing and a valid unrestricted license
as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) issued by the Arizona State
Board of Nursing (or issued by another state recognized by the
Arizona Board of Nursing as a multi-compact license state) Failure
to obtain or maintain required licensure shall be grounds for
separation; must possess or have the ability to obtain a
fingerprint clearance card within 3 months of hire; requires
successful completion of a background check; must possess and
maintain a valid Arizona drivers license; Bilingual in
English/Spanish preferred. Special Notice Items: Department of
Labor Regulation CFR Part 1910.1030 requires notification that this
category may have a high risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens,
TB screening, Hepatitis B vaccine, Individual safety training and
equipment will be provided. Knowledge of: Yuma County Policies and
Procedures; Federal and state laws pertaining to health care;
general nursing principles and practices; health sciences including
health maintenance, medical instruments and laboratory equipment.
Skills in : Applying nursing principles; exercising initiative and
judgment in selecting proper nursing intervention; responding
appropriately to emergency situations; drawing blood and collecting
other ordered specimens; preparing complete and accurate reports
and records; dealing impartially with people of different social,
economic, and ethnic backgrounds; operating computerized technology
and job-related software applications. Ability to: Read, learn,
understand, apply and follow rules, regulations, instructions and
medical practices and procedures; provide effective nursing
services and patient care and in the use of medical equipment
utilized; react quickly and effectively to emergency situations;
complete forms, accurate documentation, follow written and verbal
instructions; communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or
without reasonable accommodation; exercise initiative and
independent judgment. Work Environment The usual and customary
methods of performing the jobs functions require the following
physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or
pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and
significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60%
sitting, 20% walking and 20% standing. Working at a computer
monitor for extended periods required. The job is performed under
minimal temperature variations and may have a high risk of exposure
to blood borne pathogens, TB, body fluids, Hepatitis B.
