Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Discipline: Allied Health Professional - Start Date: 07/07/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 40 hours per week - Shift: 8 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Nuclear Medicine Technologist 2 years exp required Required Certifications BLS, Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) via NMTCB, Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Nuc Med) - ARRT (N) Shift Notes 7-3 and 8-4 Certification & Licensure Requirements - General Certifications: - BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required - AZDHS (Arizona Department of Health Services) License – Required for Nuclear Medicine Technologists to work in Arizona - ARRT (N) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine or CNMT – Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist are both acceptable for AZDHS certification - Radiology Manager Notes: - All Nuclear Medicine Technologists (NMTs) must hold an AZDHS license. - They can use either CNMT or ARRT(N) to meet this requirement. Department Equipment & Imaging - Scanners & Rooms: - 1 PET scanner (Mobile unit, Philips Gemini; new machine arriving in September) - 3 Nuclear Medicine cameras (Siemens) - Imaging Studies Commonly Performed: - PET CT: Brain, Whole body - Nuclear Medicine: Bone scan, Whole body scan, Brain scans, Cardiac pool, Cardiac MPI SPECT, CSF Cisternogram, Gastric emptying, HIDA scans, GI blood loss, Lung perfusion, Parathyroid, Renal scans, Sentinel node, Thyroid, Whole body thyroid uptake, PSA scans - Upcoming: PET CT Brain, PET CT Whole body scans Job Duties - PET Scans: 70% of the time - Nuclear Medicine: 30% of the time - Other Duties: Must be proficient in starting IVs. Skills & Experience - Required Experience: - Must have IV experience. - First-time travelers are welcome with at least 1 year of experience. - PET and Nuclear Medicine experience is preferred but not required for travelers. - Direct hires: Must have 1-2 years of PET experience. Workload & Workflow - Average of Scans/Studies per Day: - PET: 8-10 scans per day (1 tech) - Nuclear Medicine: 12-15 scans per day (split between 2 techs) - PACS & EMR: - Epic (EMR) - eUnity (PACS Viewer – General) - MIMS (PACS Viewer – PET-specific) - Department-Specific Equipment: - PET: Philips Gemini mobile unit, new machine arriving in September - Nuclear Medicine: Siemens Scheduling & Shifts - Shifts: - Monday to Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM - On-call Requirements: - Weekend rotation (Every third weekend, Saturday and Sunday) - Call-ins are rare (about once per weekend) - Holiday Requirements: On-call rotation for holidays as well Dress Code & Scrubs - Scrubs: Grey scrubs are provided. Orientation & Training - Department Orientation: 2 weeks with Lead Tech. More time can be provided depending on the individual’s previous experience. Additional Notes - Team Dynamics: Small, close-knit department (3 people), making it a professional but tight working environment. - Radiologists: Multiple in-house radiologists available 24/7. - Lead Tech Responsibilities: Also acts as an alternate radiation safety officer and works closely with new hires.
