JOB TITLE: Radiologic Technologist
REPORT TO: Radiology Director / Chief Medical Officer
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the general supervision of the Radiology
Director, assists medical professionals by providing high quality
care and accurate radiography procedures. Performs other related
duties as required.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: The duties recorded below are intended
to
Accurately represent the duties of the class and are not intended
to cover every single duty of the job.
Prepare exam room and radiographic equipment to conduct
examinations in accordance with infection, patient safety,
protocols policies and procedures and ALARA principles.
Review patient medical history and supporting clinical
information.
Evaluate any contraindications, insufficient patient preparation,
and the patient's inability or unwillingness to tolerate the
examination, documents appropriately.
Communicate with the patient in a manner appropriate to the
patient's ability to understand.
Use proper patient positioning tools, equipment adjustment, and
ergonomically correct techniques to ensure both patient and
technologist comfort and safety.
Apply independent judgment during the radiographic examination to
ensure that appropriate anatomical, pathological, and clinical
conditions are accurately captured in the examination images in a
safe and efficient manner.
Identify and documents clinical indications as well as any reason
for limitations to the radiographic examination for the reading
radiologist.
Adheres to accepted professional and ethical standards.
Provide patient services consistent with the Scope of Practice and
Clinical Standards for a Radiologic Technologist.
Assists in scheduling appointments and referrals.
Insures all ordered exams are done timely and results are available
in PACS and EHR.
Attends and participates in the Innercare in-service education
program and external educational resources. Continues education
through current journals, participation in workshops and
in-services.
Maintains current awareness and adherence to Innercare's policies
and protocols as determined by administration.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be California licensed CRT(R) Must
have and maintain a current CPR card. ARRT and Bilingual in English
and Spanish helpful.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of method, practices and
terminology used in x-ray operations; knowledge of the use and care
of x-ray equipment, supplies and instruments; knowledge of standard
record-keeping procedures and regulations. Knowledge of modern
office practices and technology, including computers. Ability to
take x-rays with skill and accuracy. Ability to learn, interpret
and/or communicate rules, regulations, procedures, and policies.
Ability to follow oral and written directions. Ability to establish
and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers,
supervisors, professionals and patients. Ability to react
professionally and effectively in emergency medical situations.
Ability to learn new information and skills to enhance job
performance. Ability to prepare reports and records with accuracy
and to maintain patient confidentiality as required.
WORK DIRECTION, LEAD AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Not
applicable-no assigned permanent staff to supervise.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Must be in good health and mental health. Must be
responsible a person, willing to accept and utilize constructive
criticism. Ability and willingness to work irregular shifts,
overtime and weekends. Standing and walking for long periods of
time.
Sitting, standing, and stooping occasionally. Help to lift up
patients from exam tables. Good oral and writing communication.
Subject to constant pressure and interruptions.
CONTACTS: Supervisor, co-workers, physicians, other Innercare
personnel, pharmacists, patients, vendors, hospital personnel,
Health Department personnel, and the general public.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Worker risks exposure to odors, toxic/poisonous
agents, communicable disease, and pathogenic substances. Work is
performed under stressful conditions. Must comply with the
Innercare Corporate Compliance Program.
HIPAA/Compliance
Maintain privacy of all patient, employee and volunteer information
and access such information only on a need to know basis for
business purposes.
Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and
security obligations. Report unethical, fraudulent or unlawful
behavior or activity.
